Family Vacation at Pioneer Woman's Lodge

It has been nearly a week since we pulled up to The Pioneer Woman’s Lodge for a week long family vacation. The first afternoon was all about unloading,

Master Bedroom

divvying out rooms, and unpacking the refrigerated goods, as well as the boxes upon boxes of…

Bread

bread,

Rations

dry goods,

Dry Goods

and cooking ingredients we brought with us to feed our family for a week.

The LOOOOONG Hall

After we all walked up and down this hallway one gabillion-jillion-thrillion times – and everything, and everyone, was sorted,

First night at the lodge.

the rest of the early evening was spent sitting on the deck, sipping cold drinks and watching the cloud’s shadows move across the vast terrain that stretches out as far as the eyes can see.

OKLAHOMA!

Are you familiar with the passage from Psalm 50:10?

“for every animal of the forest is mine,
and the cattle on a thousand hills?”

When you’re here?

Cattle upon a thousand hills.

You’re not entirely certain it isn’t referring to this place.

Tumbleweed?

This place has a rugged beauty – an altogether peaceful get-away,

The kitchen at The Lodge

perfect accommodations for my family of five and my parents.

Proof I was here.

Who in the world is that RUDE GIRL standing on the tub’s edge?

THAT my dear readers is proof I was here.

I think I’m going to get it blown-up and framed for Ree to hang in the master bath.

Dude!! You are vacationing in the land of Pioneer Woman – how ridiculously cool is that!

It looks like you are having a wonderful time. The prairie reminds me of home.

I’ve been following you fb updates, and the food photos. If you’d like a similar style vacation in the Canadian Rockies and promise to bring your mom, I have a great ‘lodge’ for you :)

Have a great time. You all deserve it.

Those photos of the rolling hills make me swoon. It’s almost unfair people get to LIVE in places so beautiful.

Yes, we are not worthy to read your blog now that you’ve been vacationing in the Land of the Lodge. :) Very cool pictures! And I didn’t know you were from Huntsville! I live up around Wichita Falls. High fives for Texan Homeschooling Blog Sisters!

What a lovely view! Try to get a bird’s eye view of the kitchen in the middle of the night. I bet you can stand in the sink and no one will know. ;o)

Explain please — May 29 2010 your kids meet grandparents in OKC for summer vacation in Mo — June 2010 your family (including kids?) have a week to spend at PW’s ranch in Okla — the girls make the photo-op at Wollaroc w/ PW’s girls — can’t be two places at once? I’m a native Okie w/ties to Osage/North Okla and follow Ree’s blog daily — love it all!!

  • OMSH

Sara in OKC – OKC is the halfway point to drop off the kids with their grandparents for a 2-week vacation in Missouri. Two weeks later we met their “Poppy” in Pawhuska. :-) for a week family vacation at PW’s Lodge.

You lucky guys!! — Get to spend a week in God’s Country!! I’m yearning to make a trip to the museum – Wild Grass Prairie – Ponca City – Ree’s pictures inspire me to see it all again in person!! Welcome to OkieLand!!
