Gamers of all Ages

Living down the street from Mom and Dad means seeing them in those fabulously familiar ways, like when Dad (Poppa Ken) is on his way to Home Depot and stops in to say “Hi!”

Teaching PK the controller.

It also means my kids get to share parts of their lives grandparents wouldn’t typically be exposed to – like playing Blazing Angels 2 – Secret Missions of WWII on the Xbox 360.

Gamers come in all ages.

Honestly, I don’t know what is more funny. Watching a 6 year old, who has never seen a war, much less flown any aircraft, teach his Poppa Ken how to fly…

We call him "navigator"...

…or my Dad (Poppa Ken), who is quite familiar with what war is all about, AND HAS PILOTED many a plane, engage in an electronic bombing mission at the hands of his grandson.

This is the stuff of memories.

YOU WERE TAKING PICTURES!!!! Filming me when Kenny is teaching me to use a “joy stick”? Good. I’ll have this to smile over when I’m on the road. Yep, I’ve been at the stick of a plane or two, and yep, I know what war is about but nope, I’m not very good at these new fangled electronic game contraptions … but all that to say, I’ll use any excuse to be with and love on your family. And it is always nice to learn a thing or two from someone half a century younger than I am, especially when the one teaching me also belongs to me.

It is wonderful that you’ve moved close to your parents! I could never do that (with either side of the family!) but get a little stab of envy at those who can.

My dad feels the same as your dad above… He loves every minute doing anything with Josh! And he’s 70 years older than the little guy ;). He’s 25 minutes away and my inlaws have decided they want to move 4 hours closer… Into our neighborhood! So we will be blessed with even
more of these everyday memories ;)

WE have the same luxury. I need to take pictures. Most of the time we stop in because my parents have a Wii and we don’t. So next time I’ll remember to bring my camera.

I love that your dad didn’t know that you were taking photos, haha!!

I think it would be neat for my kids to have their grandparents that close. It would have to be my husband’s parents though, because if my mom lived that close to me I might just have to admit myself to the psych ward.

That is funny! We live next door to my mom and it is a tremendous blessing in the lives of my kids…grandparents rock!

Tell grandpa that this makes him about the coolest grandpa around!

My dad did this too. Dropped by almost every day to see my son. Even if it was only for a few minutes. Yes, it is the stuff memories are made of because he died almost 5 years ago. Quite unexpectedly and quite too young at age 64. We miss him so much.

I should have taken pictures of my son doing yoga poses with my MIL playing Wii Fit. She thought it was great that he had “unlocked” so many new games on Wii Fit. I think they bought it just so they could play with it when my kids come to visit.

So how did he do? Did Kenny beat him?

Those are some great photos to keep for evah and evah. I forget to take pictures like that. Will be looking for those moments over the holidays.

Comment if ya wanna.
