Glimpses of the day in OKC
|30.May.2010After a late breakfast in the hotel, Jeff and I left for our first stop of the day, the Paseo Arts Festival.
I took my camera and popped several shots, and even a short video of street musicians, as we walked the booths and shops.
It’ll take me a few days to churn through, cull, and edit all the photos I like. For now, I’ll show you a handful of favorites taken throughout the day.
Of course, I have to start with Jeff.
*sigh*
What can I say I haven’t said a thousand times before?
Jeff and I enjoyed these “hillbilly-esque” street musicians with their guitars, banjo and…spoons.
This young boy was one of many who randomly positioned themselves throughout the art festival. I looked around and saw no parents – just a very serious looking boy playing his cello for all those who passed by.
On the way back to the Suburban, we trekked through a neighborhood and I saw this toss-back to The Dukes of Hazard.
As I leaned over the fence to take the shot, I found myself looking for The General Lee, Bo and Luke Duke, or Uncle Jesse.
If you’re too old, or not old enough, to remember crowding the television on Friday nights to watch The Dukes of Hazard, I’m sad – very sad, for you.
I used to blaze across my Grandpa and Grandma’s property, or the 2-mile road around the lake, on a go-cart pretending I was Daisy Duke (except I didn’t wear pantyhose with my shorts).
Stop laughing.
Came across this old 1950 Buick Dynaflow.
Old, rusty, forgotten, it begged to be captured in black and white…
…and in color.
In fact, I processed this several different ways, before settling on these two.
Started this blog with Jeff, so I’ll round it out with a final shot of me – caught in the reflection of the Suburban’s window.
And THAT is it.
Good night y’all!

Mom and I are so glad you two are having a great time in Oklahoma City. Kind of makes us wish we had stayed there through the weekend with you. Of course you would have had to given up that fabulous room your staying in. See you back home. Love ya …

Looks like an AMAZING trip!
I’m either too young to remember Dukes of Hazard, or maybe we just didn’t have cable then.

Oh cool!
I’ve lived in Oklahoma most of my life, but haven’t been to the Paseo Arts Festival. I should go sometime.
I usually go to An Affair of The Heart, a fairgrounds craft show, or the downtown Festival of the Arts.
For the most part, we like going to the local events though, like the Rose Rock Festival in Noble, Kolache Festival in Prague and the Czech Festival in Yukon.
A couple of places that are cool to go year-round are the Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History, the Omniplex and the Norman Firehouse Art Center.
Hope you enjoyed your stay!
