My Cake School

My Cake School

|23.Oct.2011

If you have a sweet tooth and/or a love for cake decorating you will really enjoy the redesign of Melissa Diamond’s My Cake School. When Melissa came to me to redesign her site, she knew she wanted to update the look and branding, but her biggest concern was for her growing membership; she wanted to make the site more user-friendly and navigable.

Melissa needed a more effective way to manage a large, growing community of subscribed members. She wanted to make it easier for them to share, interact and participate. This included the My Cake School subscription based forums, the 100+ cake decorating streaming video tutorials available to members, as well as her recipes, Cake Decorating FAQs and tips.

I am always encouraged when clients see the “bigger picture” and Melissa is one of those people. She knew what she wanted to offer her membership, understood her needs on a customer service level, but also listened to helpful suggestions about branding from experienced illustrator Secret Agent Josephine and stepped-back to let the web development pros at Foliovision work their magic.

This job was no cake walk, if you’ll forgive the pun, but it was an enjoyable challenge for all involved. Melissa now has a new web design based on nine separate custom templates, a deluxe custom mobile version of the website, custom styling for category archives, forums, video, and recipes, as well as additional newsletter styling.

And? As is most often the case with increased functionality and redesigns, she whipped up a whole host of new site visitors and subscribers! Interested in taking a class or two in decorating? Head on over to My Cake School to check out the sweet stuff of life!

Thanks Heather—you were AWESOME to work with. I am so happy with our new site! You came up with the perfect design for our needs and also one that reflects our style! I really appreciate your good advice, creative mind, and for introducing me to Foliovision and Secret Agent Josephine! Feeling very lucky to have found you when I did. Best of luck to you! :0)
