There will be no slumber at this party.
|21.Nov.2008Remember slumber parties? When you laughed until you cried? When you could spend 2 hours around a table playing Telephone and snorting Root Beer out your nose at what the last person ‘on the line’ said?
We’re waiting on our last girl to arrive and the party has already started. I’m gonna hole up in my room. Jeff and Kenny left and Meredith is spending the night with one of her closest friends.
All the girls brought their favorite snacks. The stove top has bowls of peanut M&Ms, dark chocolate M&Ms, Sour Patch Kids, two different kinds of chips, popcorn, strawberry Twizzlers, Oreos and Hot Cocoa packets.
I was informed by one of the girls that sugar and caffeine was integral “For when we start getting tired and need to wake up!”

Thou art a brave, brave woman.
Take pictures about 6am, when they’re all sprawled about like “Jonestown, The Morning After”, and send a copy to each parent, as blackmail later.
Or, sic Kenny on them about 7. That could be fun.

*** Happy Birthday Emily ***
Looks like fun :) I remember my 12th birthday slumber party. Too much fun, we never slept a wink. Well poor Dawn did and then we put her hand in warm water (didn’t work).
Did Emily decorate her cake? I know she is the resident expert.

Ditto what LizC said.

Just as long as you can get to your coffee pot in the morning, you’ll be okay. And blackmail pictures aren’t a bad idea either.
Have a fun night!

PB’s 10th birthday party a few months ago…they stayed up until 4 am. Goodness, I don’t know how I got them all awake at 9:30…lol But her friends are still talking about how great her party was, and the fact they had fun is what really matters.
Good luck. Thank goodness you have two days to recuperate.

If I were there, I actually WOULD come over and help you. Because that’s the kind of friend I am. I might laugh at you a little, sure, but I’d help.
Praying for ya! :-)

I remember my one and only slumber party. I was in 8th grade and I’d begged for two years. It was great fun and my folks were really good sports. Hope you all survive! :) Love that chalkboard wall, btw. Very cool!

I still have a few years before that happens to me. GOOD LUCK. I hope you at least get a wink of sleep tonight.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
Um, ok, got that out of my system. Looks like a blast. Not for me right now… maybe several years ago. They’re creating memories right now at your expense. :-)
Love the chalkboard wall, btw.

I’m in love with your chalkboard wall too! Doesn’t it get dusty though? I think it deserves an entry on your blog. :)
And haha on the party! Well, better chips and soda at home with the girls than the secretive outside with the boys, right? I’ve no doubt you play the perfect host mom!

I was always the last one to fall asleep at slumber parties. And the first one to gag and cry in the morning from lack of sleep.
It made for a neat, neat afternoon for my family that afternoon.
Wishing you a peaceful date with your iPod this evening.

The chalkboard wall rocks it!!

into every mother’s life…
boy had one when he was 11 or 12 as a birthday thing. i didn’t realize until that night (and the morning) that slumber is actually a code word for “we’re not going to sleep at all and you’re going to be very tired the next day and the mothers of the other kids aren’t going to be happy with you until their kid has their own ‘slumber’ party to get even.”
needless to say that was the last “slumber” party. from then on it was a “sleep over”, max 2 invitees and lights out at 1 am was the rule.
hey, i need my beauty sleep.
Michelle
Wow! Hope you survived!

I went to boarding school for highschool and every weekend and a lot of weeknights were like that! Of course we had to do it with the lights out and only flashlights so the RA wouldn’t find us and send us all packing back to own rooms…oh those were the days!!!!
Hope you got some sleep you can be guaranteed the girls didn’t! Kim

It is called a “sleep over” because when it is over then you sleep! I took pictures of my son and his friends when I got up in the morning- they were asleep where they fell! One pair were leaning against each other! Too funny!

I just did the same thing for Olivia’s ninth birthday. And for some strange reason I thought it would be a good idea to take 6 nine year olds plus my other kids to the skating rink. On a Friday night. I kept trying to look into the crowd going around the rink and counting heads…by the end of the night I had a sore neck and a pounding heachache from the noise. When did I get old?

Ahh… to be young again! We couldn’t even make it through a 10:00 tv show this weekend!
