Torn Couch
|19.Jan.2007As promised in the wee hours of this morning, I’ve returned to display the torn couch. It is torn on the right-back side. This is one place – there is a lesser tear on the other side.
I’ve never tackled slipcovers before – I’ve sewn crib dustruffles though – which, in my opinion is a rite of passage. I’m sure I could line up with the likes of a chemical engineer or biochemist now.
Here is the front view. I love this couch. Believe it or not, it is an antique. It has history that resonates with me – memories that run as far back as bedtime stories and wisdom teeth removal.
As long as I’m alive – and the couch is not destroyed by the hoodlums that call my house “home” – this couch will live on (oh, and its matching orange chairs – original color, no joke).

If I were you I’d repair for now (using a curved needle) and wiat until said foster dog either learns his manners or finds his permanent home. He may do it again. He might even do it with whatever lovely new fabric you choose to pin, pin, pin to the couch and do it again while the fabric is loose.

I agree with Smocklady! Also, I’m totally diggin’ the ottoman and cover (that the cat is lying on).

I LOVE that couch! I LOVE the design and color — I can completely see why you want it to have a long, happy, and relatively marr free life!
And, I agree with SmockLady — I’d repair for now.
And, I agree with MMM — excellent ottoman and cover!
Actually, I basically like every single thing in that picture down to the floor. Nice color scheme with the green and tan!

I wrote this on the other post, but just so you know – the foster dog is gone, gone, gone.
She is happily housed in a 3 acre backyard chasing chickens these days.
So, it is safe to repair or recover.
Thanks for the compliments. There is actually a lot of color in that room – but it comes out in the prints on the wall that don’t show up so much – and the quilts. We have quilts everywhere.
