What Will We Do Today?

When I received Jill Hart’s first email I knew I had to work with her. She wrote, “I need a design, I need it fresh, I need it organized, I need ideas…”

Let me assure you, while I agree she did need to freshen up her design, she was very organized and if there ever was a woman full of ideas, Jill is that woman. A bit of correspondence and a couple of phone calls later and we were on our way toward Jill’s vision.

First, let me say the upbeat tone was quickly set by illustrator Brenda Ponnay. Brenda created Jill’s main header and several little illos that were perfectly suited to Jill’s aesthetic and needs.

Next, when I received encouragement like “I can’t wipe the grin off my face” during the design process it was impossible to turn-out anything but my best for this amazing woman and grandmother.

Finally, I met Jill – at Blogher ’11 – and she is every bit as awesome in real life as in email and over the phone. Gracious, forward-thinking, entertaining, supportive, and animated; Jill is every bit the woman her blog projects.

After wrapping the design, I turned the design files over to the formidable web development team at Foliovision. They seamlessly exported/imported Jill’s blog from WordPress.com to her new self hosted blog and also took care of the PSD ยป WordPress Conversion, and all additional coding/custom programming.

On her blog, Jill shares what she does at Camp Grandmama and Grampy Campy, a themed day camp she hosts for her grandchildren. She also has Recipes and a section called Dear Martha, which is a witty, post-by-post diary of how Jill personally incorporates Martha (of Martha Stewart Living magazine) into her home organization, decorating and life.

Go and visit Jill at www.whatwillwedotoday.com – you’ll be glad you did. She’s not your typical granny and I’m proud to say, with everyone’s efforts, her site isn’t typical either!

Call me a bit geeky but good web design makes me happy. I just love how this site has been put together and it looks gorgeous too. Jill must be thrilled.

I LOVE Jill! I could work for her all day long. In fact I’m plotting to. I’m trying to get her to write a book and hire me to illustrate it!
