When Daddy is away a tad bit of structure sorta flies out the window. Bed times get lost in the shuffle of late night movies, ice cream seems like a good midnight snack, and we tend to drop off into dreamland wherever we fall.

Though he started in a bed – specifically, MY BED with Meredith (I fell asleep on the couch.) – he apparently shifted here sometime between dawn and 9:00.

“It was cozy here.”

Doorstop

Maybe if you’re 5 and your body still bends and folds like caramel.

I rather think he makes for a good doorstop, don’t you?

"It was cozy there."

Reminder to self: Vacuum.

This is so sweet. Hehe. Little boys. Ahh.

How precious. Don’t you love the way a kid can flop down anywhere and fall asleep? The real kicker being when they awake, regardless of the ridiculous positions they’ve slept in, they have not a stiff joint in their body! AHHH to be a child again!

  • MammaLoves

I love when they still sleep with their knees pulled up like that. The last vestiges of babyhood.

  • Mrs. Wilson

Hahaha … I have the same reminder to myself!! What a sweetie you have.

  • ashpags

Aww…precious! I think taking pics of the kiddos is far more important than vacuuming, don’t worry. =)

  • Just Beachy

He is so precious. my hip joints hurt just looking at that pose though. also, vacuum smacuum.

  • nancypants

That is so stinkin’ cute!! :^D

When the weekend comes we just chill and bedtimes are forgotten.
You have soooooooo been blogged about over at my shiney new site. Are you ears ringing? Should be. I even figured out the bloddy sideblog all by myself. :)~
Aren’t you proud of the little spawn you created? Having a bit of trouble with the Mozilla loading pages though.
Oh and I found a templatte that I like and won’t confuse my readers, I do that well enough!

  • Shannon

Oh and just so you know I can still bend like that. It is called Yoga and it works wonders.

  • TheAngelForever

Sweet photos – I love how little boys sleep all folded up like that.

I must say, I was a little jealous though. I would love not to need to walk around the house with two or more pairs of socks on to keep my toes from forming into ice blocks.

    What a sweetie!

How is it that kids can sleep like that? My knees would lock up forever if I tried that position :)

  • Loralee

I miss my boys sleeping like that. The youngest outgrew it last year.

    :(

    So sweet :)

  • bethany actually

I like your reminder to yourself to vacuum. :-)

  • Carole

So freckin cute, reminds me of Ryan! I love boys!!!

  • Carole

Then again…Ryan would be on top of me on the couch, picking the mole on my arm, singing to me!

  • Lanna

Is there just something about boys that they must sleep butt-up? Both mine do that.
And one time? My 4yo, after his 2yo birthday party, fell asleep *on* the stairs. Just couldn’t make himself finish climbing them. Hubby had left the camera at work though. Grrr.

And fwiw, your carpet? Looks awesome. Mine has bits of wood (wood stove loading shrapnel), ground in Cheerios, and a few dessicated peas among other crap. Your carpet looks awesome.

“bends and folds like caramel” PERFECT description of how children sleep in their twisty, painful looking positions!

  • Aileen

My little guy does the same thing!! He starts out in his bed at night but then, for whatever reason, ends up on the floor holding his pillow and his blanket. That’s how I find him in the mornings!! Of course, lately, I also find him completely naked first thing in the morning but that’s a story for a different post… :)

  • Meg

Aw, I took the same photo of my 3 year old son in his bed last night, when he had been tucked in hours earlier by a babysitter and we rolled in much too late. I was thinking that any time he sleeps in that pose, it could be the last, but it seems I may have a couple more years to enjoy it!

  • Jules

Our routine tends to get a little lax when Daddy is away too.

  • Mandy

So funny and so cute! My middle daughter sleepwalks. Her favorite place to end up is the bathroom rug in front of the shower! Hope you and your family feel better soon.
