Where I admit I’m human
|27.Jan.2008Today is Sunday; my Sabbath day.
I’m keepin’ it holy.
No work. Just rest.
Meredith and Kenny’s fever spiked throughout this weekend off and on. Last night there was coughing and hacking and fever and febrile seizures and vomiting mucus, and…
I believe I settled in for a 30 minute nap here and there, but rest finally came around 5:30 this morning.
A very human, very weak, and very tired me made a very big mistake.
It involved a late night phone call to Mr. OMSH.
Poor Mr. Steady and his rollercoaster wife.
Just say NO to phone calls when beyond exhaustion.
Maybe when I’m less embarrassed (like tomorrow) I can talk about it.
P.S. For all those being so kind as to how good I look when I’m tired. This photo? I stole it from the coffers – it was taken another time. A time when I was well rested (or as well rested as Moms get). I look more like this now, but – y’know, worse.

So sorry the kids are sick and you are dealing alone. Roller coaster moments are part of life though. I think Mr. OMSH surely knows that by now. And I am guessing he’s just as concerned about you as those little ones, so if truth be told, no matter how bad the phone call felt, in the end, it was good you made it. That’s why God gave you him, because there is no direct phone line to heaven. But Mr OMSH does have a cell phone for roller coaster emergencies right? Feel better, cuddle sick kids, try NOT to get sick yourself, and rest if it’s possible. And tomorrow, tell us your tale.

ooof. Rough night. I’d be way rollercoastery too.
Are you so good that you can take self portrait pictures in your sleep?!
OMSH
No, DaisyCake – I pulled from the coffers. I can do a lot with a camera, but taking sleeping photos isn’t one of them.
Thanks y’all.

Don’t be too hard on yourself … compassion for self, honey ;-) Hard to do that if you feel you’ve hurt someone else but it doesn’t make things better if you self-flagellate ;-)

Febrile seizures? Wow, I would have called too. Perhaps there is history there of which I am unaware. Yikes… hang in there Mom!
Marcie
You’re so beautiful.
Keri
Big hugs, lovely. I’m so sorry to hear of the sicknesses… Hope everyone is feeling better soon.

Hope it got better, and hope tomorrow is even better than that.

Forget the mistake (which I bet it wasn’t)! I’m just glad Mr. OMSH was able to take calls while away hunting. My hubby always goes somewhere so remote he’s unreachable. Last time he left home, I caught my daughter making out with her boyfriend! Oh, the talking he had to endure when he got home. I bet he would have preferred a late-night call.

Oh my! So sorry to hear that the kids are so sick. Febrile seizures are the worst thing to watch a child go through (my son turned blue). Prayers and healthy vibes coming your way. Rest and try to take care of yourself when you can.

I’m sorry you guys had such a rough night.

It’s not fair that you’re still that beautiful when you’re so tired.
And febrile seizures??? Are they okay?
Nancy
Sending good thoughts for a better day tomorrow. You look beautiful in that photo. Tired? You wear it well =)

I was being so hard on myself yesterday for doing nothing (except some laundry and some cleaning and trying to keep peace in the house) but gosh I really needed the rest! Ahhhh.
